About Me

Janene is a massage therapist in Columbia MO. She has been licensed in Missouri since 2001 and also in the state of Washington since 1997. Also in 1997, she joined the American Massage Therapy Association (AMTA) and she became certified by the National Certification Board of Therapeutic Massage & Bodywork. She graduated from the Moscow School of Massage (in Moscow, Idaho) in November 1996.
Janene specializes in Sports Massage. Her techniques of choice are Muscle Energy Technique and Positional Release, but she would also recommend Active Isolated Stretching. She believes that these techniques have a greater impact on the muscles and fascia in the body than a regular deep tissue massage.
A majority of her continuing education classes have been through the Ursa Institute, in Edmonds, WA (just north of Seattle). Her instructor has been Dr. Loren Rex (although to his students, friends and acquaintances, he is known simply as ‘Bear’). This is where she learned Muscle Energy Technique and Cranial Mobilization.
She is the director of the Missouri Sports Massage Team, which is sponsored by AMTA. The MSMT provides pre and post event massages at different events around the state, like the Kansas City Marathon, the MS 150 and the Ultramax Triathlon.
Janene is an active member of a local networking group, Business Network International (BNI). She is also a Juice Plus Distributor.
